Answer Behavioural Questions with STAR
- interviews
- behavioural
- communication
Situation, Task, Action, Result — a simple structure that makes your stories land.
Behavioural questions ("Tell me about a time…") are best answered with the STAR method.
The structure
- Situation — set the scene briefly.
- Task — what were you responsible for?
- Action — what did you specifically do?
- Result — quantify the impact ("cut load time by 40%").
Pick the right stories
Choose examples that show ownership, collaboration, and learning from failure. Be honest about gaps — frame them as areas you are actively improving.
