Frontend Engineer — TuneAfrica Artist Portal

About the role

TuneAfrica's artist portal is the product that determines whether independent African musicians choose our platform over global alternatives. If it is confusing or unreliable, artists will not upload their music. If it is excellent, TuneAfrica will become the primary distribution platform for African music. You will build a Next.js application that makes music distribution straightforward and transparent for artists who may be technically unsophisticated. The upload and distribution flow must be simple: drag and drop audio files and artwork, enter track metadata including the detailed genre tags that differentiate TuneAfrica from global platforms, set royalty splits for collaborators, choose release date and territories, and submit for moderation review. The flow should take under five minutes for a single track. You will build a chunked upload system with progress indication and automatic retry that handles large audio files on slow connections without frustrating artists. The analytics dashboard shows artists their streaming data: total streams by track, streams by country and city, listener demographics (age and gender from aggregate statistics), playlist additions, and revenue earned. The data should be beautiful and understandable — most artists are not data analysts. Revenue clarity is critical: artists need to see exactly how much they have earned, when they will be paid, what deductions have been applied, and what their royalty rate is for each territory. The M-Pesa payout flow must be simple and trustworthy. Artists set their payout phone number, see their available balance, and request a withdrawal that arrives in their M-Pesa within minutes. The history of all payouts must be fully visible. Experience with content management flows, analytics dashboards, and payment interfaces is required.
