Technical Writer — Developer Documentation & API Guides

About the role

Good documentation is the difference between a developer integration that takes an afternoon and one that takes two weeks. We are building a developer platform that will allow third-party fintechs, SACCOs, and enterprise clients to integrate our payments, savings, and identity APIs, and we need a Technical Writer who will make that experience exceptional. In this role you will own all developer-facing documentation: REST API reference guides, SDK integration tutorials, webhook event catalogues, authentication and authorisation walkthroughs, code samples in Node.js, Python, and PHP, and conceptual guides that explain how our system works under the hood. You will also maintain our internal technical wiki, write runbooks for the engineering team, and produce release notes for every API version. You bring a background that bridges technical depth with communication clarity. You have worked as a software developer, systems analyst, or in a technical customer-facing role, and you understand what questions a developer has when they first pick up an API. You know the difference between a reference document and a tutorial, and you know when to use each. You write code samples that actually run. You test every integration path you document. Your tools include: Markdown and MDX, Docusaurus or similar static site generators, OpenAPI / Swagger for API specification, Postman for API exploration, Git for version control of docs alongside code, and Figma for diagram creation. You have strong opinions about information architecture and navigation, and you understand how to structure a developer portal so that developers find what they need in under thirty seconds. Experience in financial services or with payment API documentation is a strong advantage.
