About the role

Savannah Pay is a financial product that will be used by people who may never have used a digital wallet before. The UX Designer on this project carries a profound responsibility: to design an experience that is intuitive for a first-time smartphone user in rural Ghana, trustworthy enough for a Nairobi professional to move their salary through, and accessible to users with varying levels of literacy and digital confidence. You will own the full design process for the Savannah Pay mobile application. Starting from user research — conducting interviews and usability tests with target users in at least two markets — you will build a deep understanding of how different user segments think about money, trust digital services, and interact with mobile applications. You will translate these insights into user journey maps, information architecture diagrams, wireframes, and ultimately high-fidelity Figma designs that the Flutter engineer can implement precisely. Key screens and flows you will design: the onboarding and KYC flow (identity document capture, selfie, form inputs); the main wallet dashboard; the send money flow for multiple recipient types; the transaction history and receipt screens; the QR merchant payment flow; the multi-currency exchange screen; and the notification centre. All designs must work in both light and dark mode, support RTL layouts for potential Arabic expansion, and pass WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility checks. You will maintain a comprehensive Figma component library that maps directly to Flutter widgets, annotate designs with spacing, typography, and colour tokens, and participate in weekly design reviews with the PM and developers to resolve implementation questions. The ideal candidate has experience designing financial or transactional applications, understands the constraints of mobile development, and has worked with users who have limited digital literacy. A portfolio demonstrating mobile-first design for African users is a strong differentiator.
