Senior Flutter Engineer — Savannah Pay

About the role

Savannah Pay needs a Senior Flutter Engineer who will lead mobile development for a pan-African wallet application serving users across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana, and Nigeria. This is a contract role within a high-performing distributed team led by an experienced Dreams2Reality project manager. You will be solely responsible for the Flutter codebase, making architectural decisions about state management (Riverpod), local storage (Hive + SQLite), API communication layer (Dio with interceptors for token refresh), and offline-first synchronisation strategy. The application must work reliably on entry-level Android devices — Tecno Spark, Itel A series, Samsung A13 — and must be responsive on screens as small as 5 inches. Your key deliverables include: the complete onboarding and KYC flow with document upload, selfie liveness check, and status polling; the wallet home screen with balance display, transaction history, and quick-action buttons; the send money flow for both M-Pesa (STK Push) and inter-wallet transfers; the merchant QR payment scanner; push notification deep-linking; and the multi-language support for English, Swahili, Twi, and Yoruba. You will work closely with the backend engineer to define API contracts, with the UX designer to implement pixel-perfect designs, and with the QA engineer to build a comprehensive widget test suite. You will manage releases to both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store through Fastlane. Strong candidates have shipped at least two Flutter apps to production, understand Flutter's rendering engine well enough to diagnose jank, and have experience with BLE or NFC integrations. Experience with mobile money SDK integrations is a significant advantage. This contract has strong renewal potential and a performance bonus tied to launch milestones.
