About the role
Quality at our company is everyone's responsibility, but we need a dedicated QA Engineer who makes it their entire job. You will build and maintain our automated test suite, champion testing best practices across the engineering team, and ensure that every release meets our bar for quality before it reaches our customers' hands. In this role you will design, implement, and maintain end-to-end tests using Playwright for our web applications and Maestro for our Flutter mobile app. You will write API integration tests against our Fastify backend using tools like Supertest and k6 for load testing. You will integrate these tests into our GitHub Actions CI/CD pipeline so that quality gates are automated and engineers get fast feedback. You will also maintain our test data management strategy, ensuring that staging environments are populated with realistic, compliant test data. Beyond automation, you will conduct exploratory testing of new features before release, maintain a structured regression testing checklist, manage our bug tracking process, and work with engineers to root-cause and reproduce issues that are reported from production. You will own our testing documentation and ensure that acceptance criteria are clear, testable, and verified before features are closed. You understand that quality in a fintech context means more than functional correctness — it means testing payment flows with edge cases like network interruptions mid-transaction, testing STK Push timeouts, testing what happens when an M-Pesa callback arrives late or is duplicated, and ensuring that error states are handled gracefully with clear user feedback. Our stack: Playwright, Maestro, k6, Supertest, GitHub Actions, Jira for bug tracking, and Allure for test reporting. Experience with contract testing using Pact is a bonus. We offer a competitive salary, remote flexibility, and the satisfaction of knowing that your work directly prevents customer-facing failures.
