About the role
EduBridge needs a UX Designer who understands that learning is fundamentally an emotional and motivational experience, not just an information transfer. Students disengage when they feel lost, bored, or overwhelmed. Your designs will be the primary mechanism by which EduBridge maintains engagement, builds confidence, and makes learning feel achievable and rewarding. You will design three distinct user experiences: the student learning interface, the educator content authoring environment, and the institutional administrator dashboard. Each has very different user needs, mental models, and interaction patterns. The student interface must be engaging and low-friction — similar in feel to consumer apps students already use. The educator authoring interface must be powerful but not overwhelming — similar to Notion or Google Docs rather than traditional LMS authoring tools. The admin dashboard must be information-dense and optimised for efficiency. Key design challenges include: the course player layout that works for video, text, interactive exercises, and code sandboxes; the progress and mastery visualisation that communicates clearly without being discouraging; the adaptive branching visualisation that helps students understand why they are being shown certain content; the content authoring block editor with drag-and-drop organisation; and the assessment question builder. You will conduct user research with university students and educators in Nairobi and Kampala, iterate based on usability testing feedback, maintain the Figma component library and design system, and work closely with the fullstack engineer on implementation quality. Experience with edtech, productivity tools, or information-dense dashboard design is a strong advantage.
