Backend Engineer (Go)

Role Overview: Pesapal is seeking a high-performance Backend Engineer specializing in Go to join our core platform team. You will be building and maintaining the high-concurrency payment processing systems that power thousands of merchants across East Africa. This is a role for an engineer who loves distributed systems and low-latency performance. Responsibilities: - Design and implement critical backend services using Go. - Optimize payment processing flows for performance and reliability. - Integrate with numerous regional banks and mobile money gateways. - Manage and maintain high-availability PostgreSQL clusters. - Implement security best practices and ensure data integrity. - Help in scaling our infrastructure using Kubernetes and cloud services. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams on platform evolution. Requirements: - 5+ years of experience in backend development. - Expert proficiency in Go and concurrent programming. - Deep understanding of relational databases and transaction management. - Experience with building and scaling microservices. - Solid knowledge of API security and high-availability systems. Nice-to-haves: - Experience with Kafka or other messaging systems. - Familiarity with the African payments landscape. - Contributions to open-source Go projects.
