About the role

Community health workers are the frontline of rural healthcare and their mobile tools need to work in conditions where city developers rarely consider — no internet for days at a time, shared devices, bright sunlight, and users who may have received only basic smartphone training. You will build the AfriHealth community health worker application in Flutter with a deeply offline-first architecture. The CHW app allows health workers to: register new patients and link them to household records; conduct structured health assessments using WHO-validated questionnaires that branch based on answers; record vital signs, symptoms, and observations; generate automatic risk scores for triage; and escalate high-risk patients to the telemedicine platform for immediate consultation. All of this works completely offline and syncs automatically whenever connectivity is available, with conflict resolution for cases where the same record was edited on two devices. You will implement: the Hive-based local database with Isar for complex queries; the background sync service using WorkManager; the assessment engine that renders dynamic questionnaires from JSON configuration; the risk scoring algorithm that combines vital signs and symptom data; the patient photo capture with low-bandwidth compression; and the batch sync protocol that uploads efficiently on 2G connections. Experience with Flutter, offline-first mobile architecture, and health or field data collection apps is strongly desired. This is one of the most technically challenging mobile roles in the project — your offline sync architecture will need to be rock-solid because a sync failure in the field could delay care.
