Data Analyst — AfriHealth Clinical Insights

About the role

AfriHealth generates rich longitudinal health data for populations that have historically been invisible in national health statistics. As our Clinical Data Analyst, you will transform this data into actionable insights for clinicians, public health officials, and our Ministry of Health partners. Your primary deliverables: a Metabase dashboard for clinic managers showing consultation volumes, diagnosis distributions, follow-up adherence rates, and doctor productivity metrics; an epidemiological reporting module that aggregates symptom and diagnosis patterns to detect potential disease outbreaks in defined catchment areas; a Python-based data pipeline that generates DHIS2-formatted reports for Kenya's national health information system; and a patient outcome tracking analysis that measures whether telemedicine consultations result in better or worse outcomes than comparable in-person care. You will work with the PostgreSQL FHIR data model, writing complex analytical queries that span patient, encounter, observation, and condition tables. You will build ETL pipelines using dbt that transform raw clinical data into clean, analysis-ready datasets. You will collaborate with clinicians to define meaningful metrics and validate that your calculations match their clinical understanding. Strong candidates have experience with healthcare data, understand FHIR or HL7, and are comfortable with dbt, Python, and Metabase or similar BI tools. Experience with DHIS2 or similar national health information systems is a significant advantage.
